HotSpring Spas Dealer Selling New and Used Hot Tubs in Alexandria, VA, Published Guides in Support of Mens Health Month

Reston, VA (PRWEB) July 08, 2012

Capital Hot Tub (Formerly named Hot Spring Spa of Washington) proudly participated in Mens Health Month. Mens Health Month is the perfect time for men to get in shape and get healthy, said Joe Mahoney, president of Capital Hot Tubs. The problem is that many men dont know how to start down the road to better health. Thats why weve created three tips for starting on a path towards improved health that every man will benefit from, continued Mahoney.

Get a Checkup – Now is the time to make that appointment for the doctors checkup men have been neglecting. It shouldnt be a big deal, in fact, seeing a doctor for a few critical screenings like blood pressure and cholesterol will give men peace of mind and leave them feeling good about their health. For men over 45, its also recommended they test for prostate cancer. Remember, the key to optimal health is being proactive and making sure they stay current with important checkups and routine visits.

Stop Smoking – The health risks associated with smoking are well known and theres no need to go through them all again. However, this month, smokers should try to make an effort to quit. Take a step back and consider loved ones. Men really dont want to smell like smoke at family functions or worse, expose friends or family to the health effects of second hand smoke. Quitting is very hard, its true. But it can be done and millions of people are living proof that life goes on after cigarettes. For Mens Health Month give it a try one more time. This could be the time, quit for good.

Let the Hot Tub Work its Magic -Men may have heard how sitting in a hot tub can relax achy, sore muscles and provide better sleep, but it can also help with weight loss, reduce symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes and lower blood pressure. The hydro-therapeutic benefits of soaking in a hot tub even a few nights a week are undeniable and have been used for generations to improve health and well-being.

Basically, warm, massaging water increases blood circulation which helps the body more efficiently deliver oxygen to cells. The result? With consistent use, blood glucose levels drop, stress levels decrease and as a result, so do blood sugars. The hot tub actually warms the body, which simulates exercise giving the benefits without the stress on muscles or joints.

We think Mens Health Month is a great time to help educate the public on how warm water hydrotherapy can help improve your overall health and well-being, said Patty Mahoney. Thats why we provided free hot tub test soaks in our 2 locations during the entire month. We suggested that consumers just call us ahead of time to schedule their free 30-minute soak so they can check out the benefits for themselves.

Consumers wanting to find the Hot Spring Spas location nearest them are encouraged to call (301) 607-4670 or visit the company website for more information. The website address is http://www.capitalhottubs.com/

Here’s some health advice for all the smokers out there: quit — especially if you’ve suffered a heart attack. According to Italian researchers, those who quit smoking after a heart attack can expect the same (or better) health benefits than they could get from taking common meds. And for those who keep smoking after a heart attack, the warning is dire: don’t quit and you could up your risk for dying almost five-fold.

For the study, the researchers tracked 1,294 patients who reported being regular smokers before they were hospitalized with acute coronary syndrome, or ACS.

All the participants had stopped smoking while in the hospital and declared themselves motivated to continue with the non-smoking once they were released. Patients received a few briefsmoking-cessation counseling sessions replacement or other smoking-cessation help was provided after they left the hospital.

The researchers interviewed patients about their smoking status at one, six, and 12 months after their release from the hospital. They found that a total of 813 (63%) had relapsed by the end of the first year. About half had begun smoking again within 20 days of leaving the hospital.

Within a year, 97 patients died. 81 of those deaths could be attributed to cardiovascular causes, according to the research team.

After adjusting for patient ages and other variables, the researchers found that resuming smoking raised a person’s risk of death three-fold compared to patients who didn’t relapse. More bad news: the earlier a patient fell off the wagon, the more likely he or she was to die within a year — those who resumed smoking within 10 days of leaving the hospital were five times as likely to die as those who continued to abstain(!).

And now the good news: very few patients relapsed after being smoke-free for six months. The researchers also found that quitting smoking has a similar life-saving effect for ACS patients as taking recommended drugs to lower blood pressure or cholesterol. The researchers concluded that patients who quit smoking for more than six months usually successfully break the habit and those who do quit significantly increase their long-term survival.

If you are a smoker and want to quit, ask for your doctor’s advice about smoking-cessation aids. Stopping smoking, especially after heart troubles, is like taking an alternative remedy that could extend your life.

What’s the best stop smoking program and why isn’t Obama on it for health care reform?

Question by TomW: What’s the best stop smoking program and why isn’t Obama on it for health care reform?
Since smoking caused and aggravated diseases are a big chunk of the healthcare dollar especially among Medicare and Veteran health care beneficiaries, why doesn’t Obama just stop smoking and show he’s serious about what he preaches to everyone else about healthy habits.

Would you want your children around a President who smokes? Is that the right impression to give future generations?

Does playing occasional basketball overcome the smoking risk factors to cardiovascular disease in black males in their 40′s and 50′s? Anyone have data?

Free Electronic Cigarette Trial Kits Considered Safer, More Effective Tobacco Alternative by The American Association of Public Health

(PRWEB) July 11, 2012

According to Nowtoronto.com, Health Canada reported e cigs to pose health issues as they havent been regulated and evaluated under safety guidelines. On the contrary, according to Joel Nitzkin, Chair of the Tobacco Control Task Force for the American Association of Public Health Physicians, both the AAPH Employees and Britains Royal College of Physicians consider e cigarettes an effective and much safer nicotine-alternative, being able to deliver nicotine to the body without inducting tobacco related health risks.

Get Your Free Electronic Cigarette Trial Kit Today

In 2010, over 303 billion cigarettes were sold in United States, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and that means over 303 billion trashed butts in one year. Those billions of cigarettes butts are ultimately washed down the drains and into rivers, lakes and streams. Properly disposing and biodegrading such gigantic piles of cigarette butts pose a major challenge to the environmental department. Apart from heath benefits, probably the biggest sustainability advantage of vapor cigarettes is that cigarettes butts are automatically eradicated.

Electric cigarettes or e cigarettes when tested by FDA were found to contain small traces of tobacco related compounds. However, the amount traced in e cigarettes was comparatively fractional than that contained in real tobacco cigarettes. Critics said that FDA failed to do similar testing on other government-approved nicotine products, including patches and gum. On the other hand, Swedish research found that nicotine gum contains the same nitrosamines.

Electric cigarettes are also called smokeless cigarettes because of their non-smoke producing quality. Traditional tobacco cigarettes produce air-polluting volatile chemical compounds that which is not the case with electronic cigarettes.

James Kimmel from Pennsylvania says, I made the switch to electronic cigarettes and it is the best decision I have ever made. I feel great and am not waking up congested or short of breath anymore. My family is very proud of me and so am I. I no longer smell like an ashtray and do not have to worry about the smell bothering my son when I am holding him. My wife also seems to want to get a little closer to me more often also. I am so thankful for the creation of electronic cigarettes.

Mary-Kate Olsen Smokes With Boyfriend’s Daughter Just in Arm’s Length; Solar Cigarette Details How the Act Could Risk the Girl’s Health

Houston, TX, (PRWEB) June 25, 2012

Mary-Kate Olsen, the former child star now billionaire designer, was pictured smoking in New York earlier this week, reported abcnews.com. The 26-year old was seen with her French boyfriend and his daughter from first marriage. And seeing how close she was with the young girl, Solar Cigarette expressed its concern over the child’s exposure to cigarette smoke. In addition, it detailed how the habit can put the health of everyone in the picture at risk.

As it can be seen in the image, Olsen was chatting on her phone while puffing a cancer stick. She was walking with her boyfriend Olivier Sarkozy and his daughter. The young girl was just about an arm’s length from the smoking Olsen. With that distance, it’s highly possible that the kid inhaled the smoke from the cigarette, said SolarCigarette. And that exposed her to many health risks, it added.

Learn More About SolarCigarette

In fact, the kid was not only that the one who was put at risk by the exposure to smoke from the cigarette. Even Olsen herself and Sarkozy as well were put at risk. That’s because both first-hand smoking and second-hand smoking are huge risk factors in developing many chronic and serious illnesses.

Among other diseases, active and passive smoking can cause cancer of various types. The most common of which is lung cancer. It can also cause a number of respiratory illnesses as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder or COPD. In addition, it can also bring in cardiovascular disorders like as dementia and high-blood pressure.

Quitting smoking can significantly decrease the possibility of acquiring the mentioned diseases. And needless to say, it can also save non-smoking loved ones from all those health risks.

However, it is not easy to give up cigarettes. And SolarCigarette understands that. So, it advised all smokers to puff using an electronic cigarette instead. With the use of it, quitting smoking doesn’t feel like quitting at all, the site said. That’s because the device delivers the same smoking sensation with real cigarettes and even looks like one.

Discover the Many Benefits of Solar Cigarette

Nonetheless, it added that it contains no tobacco. And so, the use of it releases no carcinogens that are the root causes of the illnesses that smoking can bring.

Of all the ecig available though, the company said that its own is the best. That’s because, apart from the already mentioned perks of ecig, its own, also named as Solar Cigarette, offers an added weight loss benefit. And for that, celebrities are loving it.

Just recently, the company also debuted its wide variety of flavored cartridges. The use of them with Solar Cigarette can make smoking more tasteful and enjoyable, the site said. A number of the cartridge packs also offers more health benefits for the users. Those cartridge packs are basically under the Fountain of Youth Solar Cigarette cartridge set.

Besides the hundreds of non-health reasons to quit smoking, there are many health benefits to quitting smoking. If you’re looking for some good health reasons to stop smoking now, these are just a few of the many health reasons to look for when you quit that will help you reverse the effects of smoking.

To start with – just 20 minutes after you quit smoking your tired lungs and airways will begin to heal. Circulation will improve immediately and your blood pressure and pulse will return to normal.

After eight hours the nicotine levels in your blood are reduced by 50%, and your oxygen levels will return to normal.

After 12 hours carbon monoxide levels in your blood will drop to normal.

After 24 hours your lungs will begin to clear out mucus and smoking debris.

After 48 hours your body will be free of all the nicotine and your sense of taste and smell will improve greatly.

After 72 hours your bronchial tubes will relax, allowing you to breathe much easier and you’ll find you have more energy.

After two to 12 weeks your blood circulation continues to improve.

After three months heart attack risk starts to fall while lung function starts to improve.

After three to nine months after quitting smoking, your coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and other breathing difficulties begin to improve.

After one to five years your chance of experiencing a heart attack drops by about half that of a smoker.

After ten years your chance of developing lung cancer drops by about half and your chance of experiencing a heart attack is the same as someone who has never smoked.

After 15 years the risk of stroke and heart disease is similar to a nonsmoker.

None of this will get rid of all the risks. Even decades after quitting smoking people who once smoked have higher risks of dying from diseases that block breathing channels such as emphysema. Smokers and former smokers are much more likely to die of cancers of the head, neck, throat, lungs and the bladder than non-smokers.

It’s never ever too late to quit. No matter what your age you can reduce your risk of dying of smoking-related diseases by 50% if you quit smoking now. Focus on these health benefits can help and use them as your natural stop smoking aids. Whether you quit ‘cold turkey’ or not, try not to use stop smoking pills, hypnosis, magnets, gum or patches. You’ll feel the results fast. Make smoking cessation your goal now, YOU CAN DO IT! Thousands before you have done it too!

Bel Marra Health Supports Recent Research That Shows How it is Never too Late to Quit Smoking

Toronto, ON (PRWEB) June 23, 2012

Bel Marra Health, well known for offering high-quality, specially formulated vitamins and nutritional supplements, supports recent research that shows it is never too late to quit smoking.

Research recently published in the Archives of Internal Medicine shows that smoking is a risk factor for pre-mature death and that quitting at any age is beneficial.

The researchers looked at 17 previous studies on smoking and mortality. Current smoking was associated with an increased mortality rate in all of the studies. Smokers aged 60 and over were 83% more likely to die at any age when compared to non-smokers.

The beneficial results of smoking cessation were found in all age groups, including those 80 years and older. One British study found that at age 80, 59% of non-smokers were alive, while only 26% of smokers were alive. Although the research does not show, for certain, that smoking is responsible for the difference in death rates, the researchers believe that its possible because the chemicals found in cigarettes are known to cause cell damage and because people who smoke more live shorter lives than those that smoke less.

Smoking causes damage to your immune system by decreasing the antibodies that protect you against foreign substances, making smokers more susceptible to illness. Because of this immune system damage, smokers often take a longer time to recover from infections. In addition to immune system antibody damage, the chemicals in cigarettes travel through a smokers bloodstream and interfere with the normal immune response. Dr. Victor Marchione, Spokesperson for Bel Marra Health says, For example carbon monoxide travels through the body and interferes with oxygen levels which have a negative impact on many body systems including the heart, muscles, lungs and many other organs. In addition, the airways of the lungs narrow thereby decreasing lung function. Additionally, increased mucous in the lungs also decreases lung function. Damage to the lungs can result in serious lung infections.

The good news is that damage to your immune system can be reversed if you quit smoking. The American Cancer Society reports that at 8 hours after quitting the carbon monoxide levels in your blood drops to normal and the oxygen levels in your blood increases to a normal level. This allows oxygen to flow freely throughout the body.

Between 2 weeks and 3 months after quitting, your lung function will increase by up to 30%. Circulation will improve at this time as well which will make walking and other physical activity easier to perform. Between 1 and 9 months after quitting coughing, sinus congestion, fatigue, and shortness of breath should decrease. The cilia in your lungs will regrow which will help your immune system to fight off infection. From one year onwards after you quit, many other health benefits are seen, including a decreased risk of many types of cancers and coronary heart disease. The research shows that the damage caused by smoking, including damage to your immune system and decreased lung function, can all be repaired, at least in part.

CEO of Bel Marra Health Jim Chiang chimed in on the study saying, If youre a smoker, its never too late to quit some of the damage is reversible. Speak to your doctor about resources that are available for smoking cessation and get on track to a healthier life.

Can you afford the cost to stop smoking and should those products be free at Health Clinics?

Question by Angel Survives: Can you afford the cost to stop smoking and should those products be free at Health Clinics?

Is it just as easy to quit drug use from needles or be celebate to prevent AIDS.
I’m asking because many people say they would quit cold turkey if they were able but nicotine is an addictive drug.
I’m saying if Americans are worried about smoking bans, why do we have a needle exchange program and free condoms at planned parenthood for things the rich and poor alike can just quit doing cold turkey. I think free smoking patches or gum would significantly decrease the amount of smokers today.
